More About Us:

We're Moving Saginaw Forward—a new community and political activist organization in Saginaw.

We think it's time to make our voices heard in various ways. We need to get the people of Saginaw to wake up. If the people just sit around and put up with the problems in our community the problems won't get any better.

We believe that the government leaders in our community are out of touch with the citizens. Our goal is to become a force for positive change in the community by electing local government officials that better represent the people and working together to make our voices heard. We also want to get people active and mobilized to take charge of their neighborhoods and to take back their own city.

We want to use the power of the internet and websites like MySpace and YouTube to connect people and empower them in the process. People need to be informed and connected. Right now many people don't get involved because they don't fully know what's going on or how what they can do about it. Our goal is to help empower the ordinary people of Saginaw to take charge in their own community.

We are especially interested in getting the younger generation involved because it is our future at stake.

We get the government we deserve—if we don't bother to get involved and if we don't vote, we definitely get what we deserve!

What Moving Saginaw Forward Wants to Do:

We are willing to admit that we don't have all the answers—no one does! Anyone who says that they can save your city with a great plan is a liar... don't vote for them! The fact is, fixing our city will take a long time and a lot of hard work and the ideas of many people. It is not the elected officials who must lead, it is we the people of Saginaw who must ultimately take ownership of our own city.

The so-called "leaders" in our community have been in power a long time and haven't given us the leadership we need. Moving Saginaw Forward wants to bring the people of Saginaw together to take back the city and lead and govern themselves.

Among our goals, we want to:
In the City of Saginaw: recruit five candidates for City Council in this year's election and campaign to get them elected! In the townships: recruit candidates for township boards for next year's elections and campaign to get them elected! Become an organized political force to get petitions signed and get emails and phone calls made to our elected officials! Provide information to people about what's going on in local government. Educate people about how they can get involved and make a positive difference in their neighborhoods and the whole community. Empower the people and engage them in the process. Take back our Saginaw community!
