Alabama Booksmith

About Me

The Alabama Booksmith is an independent bookstore located just outside of Birmingham in Homewood, Alabama. We specialize in author events and for that reason, have many rare and special signed books. Our Signed First Editions Club is celebrating its second year of fabulous writers. Some of our past club picks include: Anne Rice, Paul Auster, Isabel Allende, Jonathan Lethem, Tracy Chevalier, Michael Chabon, Khaled Hosseini, Richard Russo, Alan Alda, John Updike, Kim Sunee, and Geraldine Brooks. (You can view a full list of details about the club on our site.)
In addition to signed books, we boast the largest collection of books about Alabama and by Alabama authors. About a third of our store is dedicated to our hometown friends who have made it big in the book world. The rest of our store is dedicated to a unique assortment of books; whether it is fiction or non, we guarantee to have stuff you will not find at any other bookstore.
Our staff is knowledgeable about all genres and are dedicated to helping our customers find that one book they cannot live without. Come by and challenge us- we love to talk about books!
