MUSICAL BACKGROUND
Truls Markus Kjellberg a.k.a. TMK Beatz has always been around music. His dad was into everything from rock to jazz and he remembers him playing records by The Greatful Dead, The Doors and Frank Zappa. At the age of six he was introduced to rap for the first time and he was hooked. Through the years TMK would buy any hip hop records he’d come over putting together his own mixtapes on his cassette tape player. When TMK was nine he started taking piano lessons and soon started performing at school and in the local church but as he entered his teens he gave up the piano because he didn’t get a kick out of the music he was playing. Instead he started writing rhymes and even though he did so frequently, even performing on a few occasions he never pursued rapping seriously. Even though Studio Flip Mode and TMK had been friends since ‘02 it took the beat making freak that Studio Flip Mode is until late ’07 to convince TMK to start making music himself. Before that TMK had spent many nights in the Deep Pump studio with his friend just chilling but at the same time picking up some of his friends production skills and learning the basics of Cubase.
PRODUCTION STYLE
Throughout the years, many of TMK’s friends has been into other music than rap and that’s been a real blessing, TMK thinks. He learnt to enjoy everything from drum n bass to house and techno to funk and that’s something that’s going to show in his productions, he thinks. He is a real 808 freak and a sucker for synthersized hip-hop but will not be afraid to explore other styles of music which he love as electro and house. In an age where cultures are mixing, where hip-hop sounds like slow downed techno and rock bands get productions from rap super producers, his music will fit right in as he intend to break musical boundaries, and explore new dimensions.
