Tarun Balani is a magnetic drummer, percussionist , composer and a music educator from New Delhi ,India,Currently studying at Berklee College of music.He has worked as a drummer for bands like , Icognito , Artistes unlimited and has been the first call drummer for great Indian artistes like Faridkot ,Ujwal Nagar , Suhail Khan , Donn Bhatt and Sajid Akhbar.In Spring 2009 Tarun took a break from his studies at Berklee as he was called for a nation-wide tour with one of India's most popular pop/rock acts ,Faridkot. Apart from touring all over Asia the band was also featured on a television show which aired for over 4 months during the period of the tour. Tarun is also the drummer for Aditya Balani group, which is an upcoming World-jazz quintet based in Boston, USA. The quintet toured India, in the summer of 2009, and also did music workshops at local music institutes.His dedication towards teaching and contributing to the music society made him the youngest faculty at the most prestigious music school in delhi , The Performer’s Collective School Of Music. He has been teaching there since 2003. Tarun is also a prominent member of Music Basti ,Music Basti was started in 2008 to work with and empower street children through music in New delhi , India. . It focuses on helping the children to develop self- identity, value orientation and attitudes. Alongside this, it endeavors to join together community needs of children at risk, particularly street children and urban slum children, with the efforts of the music community.Tarun works as a volunteer, conducts workshops and also composes music for many of the promotion films and concerts involving these children.Since coming to Berklee in Spring 2007, Tarun has been able to further develop his voice as a world jazz drummer along with studying film composition, studying with prominent faculty like Mark Walker, Leo Balanco , Ralph Peterson , Victor Mendoza , Dave Dicenso, among others, has helped him evolve into musician of a high caliber.
