Brazilian record label Tronador Music recently released a compilation album combining most of the tracks from Jez's first 2 albums...
"The sweet melodies of Jez’s songs reveal a gentle and instinctive writing style which avoids predictability. No fancy studio tricks here, just pure talent. While some tunes travel thoughtfully like the gentle touch of ‘Song’, ‘All In’ swaggers around a jazzy pulse. ‘Lost’ is a run from the outset with a lilting finish (and almost Zepplinesque). The upbeat pop folk of ‘Belly Up’ and ‘Devil’, the sensual waltz of ‘All Fall Down’, and the revealing ‘The Worm’….these songs ‘breathe’. It’s poetry.
His talents as a guitarist anchor the expressive songwriting, and although poetic, the songs are never over fertilised with indulgent lyrical symbolism.
Graceful and humbly intelligent. Delicate and Classy. This album flies.

Sounds Like: Jez Mead plays a raw, intense and hypnotic kinda folk blues. He is a well travelled journeyman and it is a quest that he invites the listener to explore with him. He is deep and diverse in voice and word and his guitar style rises to whatever the song calls for. That can mean slapping it, tapping it, wringing it’s neck, caressing it , bending it, bashing it, tuning it weird, making it sway, swing, sing, strumming it, fingerpicking it, making it run, chasing it down and holding it gently to his heart. He can sing sweet about love gone wrong or hollar and scream about the plight of drug tested spiders. He also has the odd pop notion. There is a loyalty to the emotion of the song that creates the style. He bangs his foot on a wooden box too, if need be. He has 3 independent albums.
