1997 In 1997 they signed with the label,Turbo Beat / BMG Berlin. In June of that year, they released their first single, "Rescue me." During late '97 and early '98, "Rescue me" rose to the top of the charts becoming a mega-hit. It received heavy-rotation play on MTV and VIVA, as well as, garnering airplay of over 500 plays a week on other musical outlets.
On their tour of Germany, "Rescue me" lead to the recording of their first album entitled, Read My Sign, recorded at Turbo Beat's studio in Berlin. In late December '97, the group was acknowledge with a gold/platinum award for the single, "Rescue me," this was in recognition of selling over 750,000 CD..s.
1998 In 1998, the group began their European promotional tour. As a result, the album "Read My Sign," went gold having sold 250,000 CD's in Germany alone. After completing many festival gigs throughout Europe Bell, Book & Candle headed to the United States. BB&C did get the Goldene Kamera, RSH-Gold and the Goldene Europa. During 1998, they were nominated for Echo, the German equivalent of a Grammy-- Award. Subsequently, Blackbird on the Atlantic label released BB&C in the US. For their single, "Bliss in my tears" Bell, Book & Candle chose to record with the Babelsberg Filmorchestra.
1999 In 1999, the group continued to appear at summer music festivals throughout Europe. MTV showcases their video "Fire & Run" on the index. Soon after, they released their second album, "Longing" which was soon followed with a USA club tour. Bell, Book & Candle received their second Echo nomination.
They appeared in two significant venues, a show performance with Katarina Witt, in the USA, followed up with a live-support with Whitney Houston in Germany.
2000 They kicked off 2000 with an album tour for "Longing" and began songwriting for their third album. In the autumn/winter 2000/2001 they kicked off their Fanclub-tour releasing their first single "Catch you" in May. In July, they followed up their continued success with the release of their third album entitled, The Tube.
Bell, Book and Candle supported Roxette in Germany, with other gigs including, but not limited to "Hand in Hand for Children."
2002/2003 proved to be a great year they made another European Tour with a two city tour in the US (Salt Lake City, Utah and New York, NY). That year the recorded and released their fourth album "Prime Time" March/2003.
2004/2005 After years in the business they decided to write under their own label “Multirecordsâ€. Bell, Book and Candle released "Bigger," which hit the stores in July of 2005.
1994 - 2009 15 Jahre BELL BOOK + CANDLE
Eine Berliner Band - gegründet 1994 von den Freunden Andy Birr, Hendrik Röder und Jana Groß, die sich bereits lange vorher kennen.
Im Akkord werden Songs geschrieben und es wird live gespielt, nebenbei jobben alle drei in den unterschiedlichsten Bereichen, wie Lichttechnik, als Studiomusiker und als Clown.
Ihre erste Veröffentlichung „rescue me“ steigt im August auf Platz 72 der deutschen Charts ein und klettert bis auf den 2. Platz – 4 Monate nach Veröffentlichung wird der Platinstatus erreicht und 750.000 Singles verkauft.
Die Veröffentlichung des ersten Albums „read my sign“ im Februar 1998 beschert BB+C 250.000 verkaufte Exemplare in Deutschland.
Es folgen Veröffentlichungen in 20 weiteren Ländern – darunter Großbritannien, Südamerika und den USA – der Goldstatus wird in vielen Ländern, wie Österreich, der Schweiz, Schweden, Spanien erreicht und es schließen sich Tourneen und Festivals, wie das South By Southwest Festival in Austin/ Texas an.
Sheryl Crow steuert einen Song zum ersten BB+C – Album bei, die gefühlvolle Ballade “destinyâ€.
Es gibt wunderschöne Auszeichnungen, wie die Goldene Kamera 1998, die Goldene Europa 1999 und RSH –Gold.
1999 erscheint das zweite Album „longing“- darauf findet man den für viele Fans schönsten Song „bliss in my tears“, der als Soundtrack zum Krimi „Schimanski – Geschwister“ zu hören ist.
Zur Single „fire & run“ dreht der Regisseur Kai Sehr ein Video, welches bei MTV Deutschland wegen Anstiftung zur Straftat auf den Index kommt.
2001 wird das dritte Album „the tube“ und die Single „catch you“ veröffentlicht und läuft bei vielen deutschen Radiostationen auf Rotation.
BB+C engagieren sich gern für Nordoff Robbins und das Projekt „hand in hand for children“ und spielen supports für die Whitney Houston- und Roxette Touren in Deutschland.
2003 erscheint das Album „Prime Time“ im Bertelsmann Buchclub, daraufhin gründen BB+C ein eigenes Label und veröffentlichen 2005 das 5. Album „bigger“ sowie die Single „universe“. Diese chartet und bekommt hervorragende Radio Airplays. Im Oktober 2006 entsteht der Song „mein leben“ in Kooperation mit Martin Engler.
„Mein Leben“ läuft als Soundtrack zur ARD/WDR Serie „Das Beste aus meinem Leben“ nach einer Kolumne der Süddeutschen Zeitung und dem daraus zusammengefaßten Buch von Axel Hacke. Auch im Jahr 2007 geht es weiter, es sind eine Zusammenarbeit mit dem Gitarrenduo „twelve strings“ und gemeinsame Gigs in geeigneten Locations, wie Kirchen geplant. BB+C schreiben Songs für andere Künstler und sind nun Inhaber der eigenen Edition „Minuu“ bei der EMI Publishing in Hamburg.
