Squid vs. Whale

Squid Vs. Whale was founded in August or September of 2001 by three friends who had at various times all lived in Reno, Nevada. The label was christened by the late indie rock band Crushstory as they rolled out of Reno on their way to a brief mini-tour of the west coast.The decision was quickly made to base the label in Portland, Oregon for boring reasons of logistics, business administration, and warehouse (read: basement) storage space.
