I'd like to meet:
don't freak out, this is really a television program....
Music:
I used to be with it. But then they changed what 'it' was. Now what I'm 'with' isn't 'it' and what's 'it' seems weird and scary to me. Anyhow, here are some of my favorites:Queens of the Stone Age, Eagles of Death Metal, Mondo Generator, Desert Sessions, the Dwarves, the Supersuckers, Pavement, Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks, Guided by Voices, Robert Pollard, Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, Beck, Bad Brains, the Flaming Lips, Radiohead, the White Stripes, Laughing Hyenas, Easy Action, Mule, the Jesus Lizard, Tomahawk, the Afghan Whigs, the Twilight Singers, Mudhoney, the Atomic Fireballs, Kool Rockerz, Built to Spill, Grandaddy, Iron and Wine, Throw Rag, Sebadoh, Early Man, Wolfmother.
Movies:
The Shawshank Redemption, Pulp Fiction, Resevoir Dogs, Saving Private Ryan, Braveheart, It's a Wonderful Life, Freaks, Crumb, Ghost World, Night of the Hunter, The Killing, just about every Hitchcock movie ever made and I'll throw some Blaxploitation films in to round things out. Black Caesar freaked my shit out because the last scene in the movie has the day and year I was born - not sure what the significance of that is.
Television:
The Simpsons, Seinfeld, The Chapelle Show, The Man Show, The Kids in the Hall, The Andy Griffith Show, Old Tom and Jerry cartoons and anything from Tex Avery, Good Times, Little House on the Prairie
Books:
Ham on Rye, Women and pretty much anything by Charles Bukowski, the Basketball Diaries by Jim Carroll, the Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger, On the Road by Jack Kerouac, Pimp: The Story of My Life by Iceberg Slim, Daddy Cool by Donald Goines. I also have a bunch of books about Frank Lloyd Wright, Antonio Gaudi, Salvador Dali, Gil Elvgren, Pin-Up Art, Joel-Peter Witkin, Robert ParkeHarrison, early crime scene photography and a bunch of books dealing with the history of Detroit.
Heroes:
Not to sound sappy or anything, but I've always considered my wife Jennifer to be one of my heroes. She has perservered through a lot of difficult moments in her life and she stayed strong through every one of them. If she reads this, she's going to think I'm totally gay, but I really do admire her.
