About Me

"Grindin over Sleep, that's the 'motto of the block!'...Not only motto of the streets, but pretty much motto of life for 24 year-old Dallas, Tx native born Terrence Jones of the southeastern section of Oak Cliff. Now, one of the most well-known producers as well as hottest artist in D-Town, Mista E has definetly earned his place in the "Hall of Grind". The worldwide block known as Highland Hills, Tx since his birth in the early 80's, He recieved his primary education. At the age at 11, he decided he wanted to rap after being surrounded by cousins and older neighborhood freestylers that did the same. "At first, it was just me and my lil bro rapping and freestyling together. He was my first rap partner.", reflects E from his childhood beginnings."From 6th grade to high school, everywhere we spit we left the whole place crunk !' After which, he got serious and started the group 187 Crime Family his sophmore year of high school. The group got into the studio, recorded a demo, and submitted it to Star D Records where the welcomed them to the family immediately. 187 Crime Family eventually narrowed down to Mista E and another group member which made up the city-renowned I-45 Boys along with a few others. They found themselves leaving Star D Records and running into Steel Reel Records CEO, Ironside, a sharp buisnessman, entepenuer and lifetime mentor where they found their new home label. At age 17, Mista E was often in disputes with his parents, which resulted in him being kicked out of the house and on the streets with nothing but his music and hustle abilities. Despite spending the first few nights on his own in the streets, Mista E stayed focused on his dream and still aspired to be one of the best. In October 2001, the I-45 Boys released their debut album "On The Map", which he produced and quaterbacked at the age of 18. The album was one of the most fastest selling albums in Dallas that quater which was followed up by the album "Club D-Town" in 2004, 3 years after. This club-anthem filled CD was produced exclusively Mista E and hosted the concept of Dallas first "all club track" cd, making it a success as well as a bigger name for the I-45 Boys. The album made such a phenomenal impression on the streets, Mista E was approached by TVT records, home of Lil Jon and the Eastside Boys and Ying Yang Twins, for a possible major record distrubition and production contract. Nevertheless, Steel Reel Records stayed independent putting out the Ironside album, Texas Thug K.I.W. Boys and a few compilations for the streets. By 2006, Mista E had reached another level of creativity, buisness knowledge and life, inspiring him to begin recording on his first solo debut project, "Grindin Over Sleep". The album is a reality story from his perspective of attaining whatever you want by "grindin" for it. The album is appointed to be mainstream, accompanied by artist such as Lil Keke of the Swishahouse, Mr.Lucci, I-45 Boys aka Troops, Big Chief, Yung Nick and more with guest producers Spliff for Firestation Prod. and Hollywood. One of the most highly anticipated albums this year, Mista E and the "Grindin Over Sleep" anthem will take iconic presidence in the streets and in real conversations everywhere.....So look out for it !!
