FW Weekly Anthony

About Me

I'm a writer-person. My literary awesomeness has appeared in The Village Voice, Vibe, The Oxford American, The New York Press, Salon.com, The Art Newspaper (London), Exquisite Corpse, Architecture magazine, CMJ, the Houston Chronicle, and Ducts.org, among other places. Full time, I'm the associate editor of Fort Worth Weekly, an independently owned alternative-press publication (www.fwweekly.com), where I cover primarily local cultural shit, like indie music, jazz, art, architecture, books, food, film, plays ... I'm originally from Pittsburgh, I have two older brothers and an older sister, I played college football on scholarship as a linebacker ("No. 34 in your program, No. 1 in your hearts"), I drive a black, dented '97 Nissan pick-up truck, and my wife and I live in north Cowtown, Texas. An excerpt from The Book of Etna, my forthcoming novel, will be published in No Record Press' annual Red Anthology in early 2009. My favorite color is seafoam green.(The photo below is of Billy Joe Shaver in concert in Washington, D.C. Notice the guitarist's t-shirt. We rule.)

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

For coverage in the Weekly, bands/performers/artists of all genres and disciplines from Fort Worth/Tarrant County and Denton are encouraged to send hard copies of music/artwork or digital files to either [email protected] or the office (3311 Hamilton Avenue, Fort Worth, TX 76107). (Dallas bands/performers/artists -- especially ones that perform/exhibit in Funkytown regularly -- are more than welcome to submit material. However, priority is given to artists from our primary coverage area.) I can't promise that we'll write about your art/performance, but I can say that it will be processed without prejudice. News tips are also always welcome.Other potential arty-farty profile subjects or people with news tips are encouraged to contact me here or at [email protected]. Thank you.
