There is no one way to describe who I am and what I stand for. I am made up of all of my life's experiences and the experiences that others have shared with me. Each rise and fall that I have experienced has been recorded into my memory and ingrained into my character. I met a 72 year old man who told me that if he knew at my age, what he now knows at 72, it wouldn't have been fair. He told me to love life. That I should never have to prove anything to anyone. He said that being myself was enough. I hugged a 50+ year old woman (you know women don't like to tell their exact age, lol) who told me that I was already beautiful and that I would one day grow into my greatness. She said that I should embrace E-V-E-R-Y moment in life. After all, I can't understand the good ones, if I don't experience the bad ones. She said that I should never want to be anyone other than the person I am, because the person I want to be in the future is the person I am today. I met a 70 year old lady who told me to enjoy my youth, because when you get old, no one cares about you. I met an author who told me not to give up on black men. He said that there are some good ones left and that I should not be discouraged. I watched a child play lacrosse, fall down and immediately get back up while dusting the dirt off of her knee. I looked at my life and realized that E-V-E-R-Y outcome, whether good or bad, was based off of a simple decision. Even fate can be manipulated by the decisions that I make. ALL OF THESE ENCOUNTERS AND REALIZATIONS TOOK PLACE TODAY. They all happened because I MADE THE DECISION to open myself up to everything that life has to offer. Today I realized that there is no such thing as a bad day. A bad day is simply a day when all of the effects from the bad decisions that you made pile up at your doorstep and force you to deal with the monster that you have created. You can either buckle under pressure and sulk or you can immediately open yourself up to a solution and proper guidance that will prohibit you from making bad decisions in the future. Guidance, such as the gift of wisdom that the 72 year old man bestowed upon me. Guidance can be found by watching the child who falls down and gets back up, never quitting. Love hard, as if your heart had never been broken. Live life and realize that regardless of your religious beliefs, you only get ONE LIFE on this earth. I have dreamed peoples' deaths since I was ten. The burden of knowing someone's death date has drove me insane for 14 years, but it has taught me a valuable lesson. Life is precious and oh so fragile. Live everyday with the idea that when you close your eyes tonight you may never open them again.
