About Me

--

A long time ago I read an NTSB study of sign visibility. It said that the most visible color combination is Yellow on Black. So why don't they use it?
This page is a compromise.

A long time ago I saw a castle floating in the sky. I stared at it for days and then decided I would build wings so I could visit there. My first attempt was with pillows. So soft and light, when I layed down to sleep it felt like my head was floating. I gathered up all the pillows we had in the house, laid them all out on the lawn and lied down. To my suprise I fell asleep instead of floating up into the sky. Instead of finding myself up in the clouds I woke-up to being yelled at. Everyone's pillow was dirty so couldn't be used in bed anymore. Next I thought of helium balloons. How they floated on a string, trying hard to reach the castle but were tethered to the ground. I got a balloon and untied it, before I could ask it to carry me there, it had already left. So then I got a helium tank. I thought if I made a hundred balloons, surely two would wait long enough for me to ask my question and surely one would agree to carry me into the sky. To my suprise none stayed long enough for me to say a word. Well, maybe my problem is the balloons, maybe they weren't very happy being stretched as they were by the heium. So I decided not to use them. I put my lips to the tank and inhaled as much as I could. Jumped up and down and inhaled more helium. It felt as if I was beginning to float and closed my eyes with joy. When I woke my head hurt and all the helium was gone. It wasn't the balloons that refused to help me, it was helium that only thought of its own escape without thought of helping others.

When I speak to the earth the trees wave their arms at me. I like to hike to tops of mountains or swimming holes. I'm a total Mac Head who's using a PC. I live in a blackhole and wonder what life's like in a vacuum. Mostly I spend my freetime writing and hiking. The rest of the time is on the computer learning new skills and working on my computer learning new skills.

A Quote from, The Hitchhiker's guide to the Universe :
"There is a theory which states that if ever anyone discovers exactly what the universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable. There is another theory which states that this has already happened."

Douglas Adams was the shit! Check this place out, The Plain Vanilla HGTTG Page

Here's my favorite Silverstein Poem too:
"Stone Telling"
How do you tell if a window is open?
why just throw a stone at it
does it make a sound?
it doesn't?
Then it's open!
Try another one
crash!

You've gotta hear him tell it, it's just hilarious.

My Interests

Cooking, hiking, camping, poetry, writing, reading, laughing, singing. Radiohead

I'd like to meet:

Soylent GREEN people.

People who are intelligent yet have a wacky sense of humor and consider themselves artistic even if it's only in how they fold napkins. Anything can be art if you make it art. People who like to relax at home and play video games some of the time, like to go to classical concerts, rock concerts, and clubs, and like the full spectrum of camping. Whether it's parking and setting up a tent and campstove all the way to hiking 5 miles a day to get to some hot springs carrying just a backpack so we can enjoy the many wonderous vistas that nature provides.

Music:

Radiohead, Bjork, Elliott Smith, Pavement, The Breeders, Blind Mellon, Takkyu Ishino, The Pixies, Tenacious D, G'n'R, Sonic Youth, Weezer, NIN, Green Day, R.E.M., Smashing Pumpkins, and much more. I can't name all the bands I like. I usually listen to NPR in the car.

Movies:

The Matrix, Starship Troopers, The Hobbit, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Clockwork Orange, The Professional, Donnie Darko, Aliens, Cannibal: The Musical, Princess Mononoke, Akira, Ninja Scroll, Ghost in the Shell, Cowboy Bebop, The Seven Samurai, The Blind Samurai,Spy Game, The Hobbit, Finding Forrester, How High, Death to Smoochy

Television:

All Poker shows, CSI Las Vegas (NY and Miami just aren't the same), The Westwing, Full Metal Alchemist, Family Guy, Futurama, American Dad, and Ghost in the Shell: The Stand Alone Complex, Good Eats, How to Boil Water, Iron Chef, Paula Dean, The Barefoot Contessa, and Cook's Tour. Mostly I watch FoodTV, Cartoon Network, SpikeTV, and Bravo in that order. I really dislike network television. I hate commercials. I find that the reruns on cable have longer but fewer commercial breaks. I channel surf instead of watching subliminal messages about consumerism.

Books:

Ursula K. LeGuin, Isaac Asimov, Kurt Vonnegut, Richard Bach, Douglas Adams, Piers Anthony, Shel Silverstein, JK Rowling, Alan Dean Foster, Robert A. Heinlein, and many many more. Right now my favorite series of all time is, "The Foundation" by Isaac Asimov though is rotates with, "The Wizard of Earthsea" by Ursula K. LeGuin, "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" by Douglas Adams, and "Harry Potty" by JK Rowling.

Heroes:

Thomas Edison for harnessing the power of electricity. Socrates because he died for his beliefs. Jack Daniels because he started distilling whiskey when he was a child and perfected it by his seventh recipe (or he couldn't count any higher perhaps). William Shatner because when everyone laughs at him he laughs with them.

Did I ever dream?

I haven't written anything here in a long, long time. I feel like erasing a lot of it but I'm not going to. My insanity is open for anyone to read. Now I'm going to try and answer my own question.
