T Tauri

About Me

T-Tauri was alive for six years 1993-1999, two years in Colorado and four in Los Angeles.By the time they were in Los Angeles, the guitar, bass, and drums trio gained a love of sludge. They dove deeper into the pit of despair, away from the surface light of spastic hardcore leaving a trail of honest horror and apparitions of their former selves. They survived many US tours and recorded dozens of songs that were available in various degrees. Their first effort, a cassette-only demo, has probably been heard by less than 50 people and was made by hand and four-track by the band in 1995. The next release, a split 7" with the popular Bay Area by way of Colorado outfit the VSS. "Ending Deconstruction", their first full length, was an early release by Gold Standard Laboratories. The last recording was self-financed in a desperate attempt to preserve the final work of the band and was never released until now.The band members, ever unsatisfied, felt the pain and pleasure of committing years of their lives to this project; eventually they pursued their inquiries separately. Jason went on sabbatical to Colorado. Aaron moved to New York to study Film and TV then on to play in Black Dice. Gream went to San Diego to study international relations, and played in the PeppermintsThis is just a fan site. If anyone has photos or video we can add that would be great.

Hailing from Los Angeles, these transplants from Colorado have created a masterpeace of sound and chaos. T Tauri provide the listener with a very thick sound which is both intricate and heavy. Drawing from influences from no wave to Unwound, T Tauri successfully combine many diverse elements to produce a record that is ground breaking and still rocks. Recorded during 1996. Out Of Print

Influences: Exoduster.com Infinite Motion was recorded in 1999 right before/during the three-piece split up, as means to preserve their last musical endeavor. Initially formed in Colorado and then relocated to LA, T-Tauri twirled in obscurity for the scope of their six year existence. A split with VSS and the release of their debut full-length on then growing GSL were high points in the T-Tauri experience. What we are left with are seven songs of deep, distorted instrumental magic, periodically punctuated by vocals that come in just under an hour. Again, with the rise of vocals, the songs’ quality begins to diminish. Though slightly on the darker and spacer side of instrumental rock, I’m surprised that T-Tauri didn’t meet with more success. I’ve only heard the songs off of Infinite Motion, but they are all nearly on the same level as the chiefs of dark, instrumental rock; though T-Tauri’s previous material might be quite different from Infinite Motion. Ignoring the vocals and keeping the volume low, Infinite Motion is an excellent concentrating-while-doing-work record.
