on iTunes now! "Guitarist Bryan Aspey strikes gold on his 2007 CD Frozen Hours. Featuring Aspey on nylon, steel string and classical guitars, the eleven track CD never fails to come up with interesting guitar instrumentals that keep you coming back for more. Aspey's CD is based around jazzy, solo guitar but will appeal to anyone who appreciates jazz masters like Pat Metheny as well as fingerstyle legends Leo Kottke and the late Michael Hedges. Aspey has also studied with Paraguayan guitarist Berta Rojas and, as a result has solid grasp on a variety of Spanish and World Beat flavored guitar instrumental music."
20th Century Guitar Magazine "...very creative mixing of influences, gracefully achieved...
excellent work."
Jorge Strunz, Strunz & Farah "Bryan Aspey has a great sound with "Frozen Hours", I love the technical dimension he brings to this style of music
- very refreshing."
Dan McAvinchey, Guitar Nine Records
Seemingly divergent musical paths have always landed Bryan Aspey in good company: by the age of 16 he held the guitar chair in Virginia's All-State Jazz Ensemble, was invited to play with guitarist Pat Metheny in a televised broadcast, and performed on stage with jazz pianist/legend Billy Taylor.
After completing his studies in Jazz Improvisation, Composition and Audio Engineering at James Madison University, he toured and recorded with a widely successful Celtic music group for five years. Having played to sold out crowds across the country and abroad, he has also been warmly welcomed at home in the Washington, DC area at the John F. Kennedy Center Concert Hall, the Barns of Wolf Trap, and the Meyerhoff Symphony Hall.
Now studying with renowned Paraguayan guitarist Berta Rojas, he has developed a repertoire of solo guitar music from Latin America. Beyond his accomplishments as a performer, Aspey is a devoted music educator, composer, producer and recording artist with four CD's to his credit, including " Frozen Hours ," his first solo album.
