I'm a soul-following, earth-loving, self / world / life-awareness seeker currently taking a break from the big wide world by having solace in beautiful Gisborne, Aotearoa.

One of my strongest callings in life seems to be music; the love of it, the creation of it, the sharing of it, the feeling of it, the effects it has on me and other people. It has been ever since I was about 2 years old. It is this I'm exploring again after having time out from it for a couple of years, now that I'm back in my hometown for a while and I have the time and space.

DCH features my long-term songwriting soulmate and kindred spirit of 10 years Carl Watkins , and my drummate soulbrother and great teacher Luke Hale. Carl and I currently collaborate and perform together in the Red Moon Collective (see press release in my Pics section).

I love playing indigenous drums, hand drums, percussion & kit/conventional drums. Currently I play or can play African djembe, African dun-duns, congas, small Trade Aid-type Asian hand drums, shakers, clave sticks, tambourine, and other miscellaneous percussion instruments. My special drum-fetishes at the moment are taiko (Japanese drumming)and samba - they are so hot hot HOT!

I also play bass, acoustic and electric guitar, a little piano and keyboard, am (very) tentatively exploring my voice through singing and have recently discovered a new love; Japanese bamboo flute, Shinobue.

My other passions are many; to name a few I would say healing practices, healing modalities and herbal medicine, learning about different indigenous cultures and languages, ecology and organics, vegetarianism, human rights/social justice, the alleviation of poverty and suffering, emotional and spiritual awareness, nature loving, heart-centred living, wildness, freedom, lack of inhibition, expression, creativity, passion itself, energy, inspiration, realness, honesty, truth ...love ...

I enjoy meeting people who have a deep, heart-centred or self-aware way of being in the world; people fascinate me and I thrive on having lots of them in my life (for which I am very grateful :)).

I also love working with other people musically, and enjoy especially developing music together, collaborating and arranging. I'm always on the lookout for musicians I resonate with, and musicians who resonate with me.
