Psychedelic Trance Culture and Mayan Culture, Cyber Culture, Graffiti Art and Performances
in one same street parade
The Beat Da Street Project was initially created as a project to trance up Madrid, that came into being in 2007 when Colectivo Mithology and other groups and artists joined their forces to organize the first edition of the event because of a lack of bars and discotheques at which to listen and dance to innovative, adventurous and elegant psybient and psychedelic trance music. With the first edition of the Beat Da Street Project in May 2007, we offered Madrid and its people a unique event, an inspiring collaborative celebration of unity in diversity in expressing ourselves through art and music:
First, the possibility of enjoying progressive and psychedelic trance music coming from a decorated truck driving through one of the main streets of this wonderful city.
Second, all sorts of creative people were there to claim their rights to use the streets as a meeting point for young, creative and interested souls to get together and were allowed to show and build up hope for others to trance up the city and participate in an event intended to promote these hard-to-find music styles at local venues.
Through this participation we seized the opportunity to show that Madrid is a cosmopolitan city that can offer the same kind of events to its people like the sort that are already very successfully taking place in other European cities.
Being true to ourselves while working on the same concept with many others into a same project, helps all the individuals involved to grow on a professional and artistic level and to achieve unity among all of the event's participants. Collaborating with the project will then be a way for all of us to unite and simultaneously, celebrate the diversity among us.
Nevertheless, we are not talking about collaborations with only trance collectives, magazines, festivals and artists since one of our main goals is to show what is already there and to smash many other, different interesting subcultures together in a one-day event.
The psychedelic trance culture with its art and music scene will go hand in hand with breakcore, experimental music and cyber wear, Mayan culture and graffiti art and other types of performances. They are all to be presented in different trucks leading the celebrating public going through the streets in one same street parade.
That is why we invite all sorts of people who are into street, cyber, gothic, faerie trance and clubbing wear, into graffiti writing and painting in general, singing and dancing, performing and writing about different sorts of art, working on producing music or handmade music instruments to gather and collaborate and to show their best skills and personal reasons to be participating at the next edition of the Beat Da Street Project.
All of those collaborating with the event will have a project within the Beat Da Street Project to work at and will make an effort to make it grow at the same time to achieve the attention of people from Madrid and from other Spanish and European cities. Thanks to this intention between all of us, all sorts of art and work could then be seen, heard and appreciated by many others.
The Beat Da Street Project is also about finding the right information at the right time:
Movimiento 13 Lunas from Spain will come together the day of the event to spread the word about the Mayan culture and their calendar, while international music labels and festivals involved will be sending information on their artists and other upcoming events related to trance, psybient, breakcore and experimental music. All sorts of information will be handed out by artists collaborating with the project.
We hope this project to be inspiring for you and thank you for your time, keep updated here at the My Space page of the project and at Goabase (see links below).
