Handfast is a death/thrash project formed unofficially in 2006 by vocalist Joe Christina. With the help of a good friend (guitarist Joel Hollis) the "Seasonal Magick" demo was recorded using the Kristal Audio Engine. After the demo's completion, Joel decided to join and the two began to collaborate on the musical direction of the band. Some time later, Ivan Navas came on board as Handfast's drummer. To date, all of Handfast's recordings make use of synthesized drums and bass. This is only for the sake of convenience. As the band is spread out over the Chicagoland area, most of our collaboration is done over the internet. However, for almost a year now we have been rehearsing together in Ivan's basement on a semi-regular basis. The goal is to polish our sound to the point of being live-ready. We do not yet have plans of entering the studio. Because of logistics and family responsibilities, Handfast does their best to write and record new material in a timely fashion. We will not, however, rush to the point where we're writing sub-par music. I feel the music of Handfast should be worthy of listening to first and foremost. Our sound is best described as an amalgamation of death metal and thrash with a heavy emphasis on melodic elements. Currently, our goal is to be on a live bill by the fall of 2008. We hope to see you then, but as always, we will keep you posted. Cheers. -Joe
