Assembly Required

About Me

Formed in 1987 in the music room at Lindsay Place High School in a suburb of Montreal, Assembly Required quickly became fixtures on the twisty Montreal music scene. There were noted as much for their wide-ranging repertoire as their remarkable muscianship. In the early 1990's their independant release "Blue Album" spawned receiving significant radio play in and around Montreal. Sensing a money making opportunity Corey Hart svengali Bob Ramaglia signed the band to his newly minted RamVan label. The resulting album, Mike Owes Us Money, was produced by the mighty David Findlay and featured 12 tracks of infectious power-pop. Released in limited quantities in 1992, the album remains a highly sought after collectors item and one of the true lost treasures of the Montreal music scene.Disappointed with how BIG BUSINESS messed with their heads, Assembly Required left the confines of Bob Ramaglia and his people for stranger pastures and recorded an album, Full, in 1994, that presented the musicianship of the band in a stronger context.Continuing to play and record in Montreal the band eventually called in quits in 1995 just as their songs were becoming truly accomplished. They are sorely missed and are long overdue for someone to discover their magic.
