Likes: Rock Music, Wildlife, Fell Walking, Beer, in fact, I probably fell walking because of the beer.Â
Dislikes: Man's arrogance, over-population of the country and the world by our species, experts, litter, pollution, soft punishment for serious crime, traffic jams, red traffic lights, speed humps.Â
I am quite serious about some of my dislikes. I believe that 99% of the country now believe that we are too soft on crime and punishment, so it is time the government listened to the people they claim to represent. I would personally bring back capital punishment for some serious crimes. I am sick of hearing claims that the government is going to get tough on crime and at the same time the prisons are all full. There is only one obvious answer to this....build more prisons and train the staff. I would also make the prisons far less comfortable than they are at present. I don't care about the human rights of prisoners, I am only concerned with the human rights of victims which the government finds it to easy to forget about.Â
On an even more serious note, I believe the world and in particular the UK is far to overpopulated with us. I believe a more sustainable population of the UK is about 10% of its current number and likewise for the rest of the world, but I accept that it is difficult to stop people bonking and breeding. China have had an experiment going now for about a decade which was forced upon them by their own over-population. They are only allowing one child per couple, otherwise incentives for their child such as good education will be taken away. Gordon Brown as the Chancellor of the Exchequer has presided over economic policy which has reduced the incentive for parents to stay together for the sake of their children and made it easier for single parent families. And he is still scratching his head about why the UK is the teenage pregnancy capital of Europe. Come on Gordon pay attention. Lets hope he does a better job as prime minister. I think there should be financial incentives so that people get tax breaks for one child, but there should be no financial help for subsequent children. This would force people on low or no salaries to think again before having large families. A reduction in population would bring huge benefits in terms of pollution reduction, fossil fuel burning reduction, endangered species protection, and global warming.Â
For those of you who think that the world is not over-populated, I ask you how many of us do you think the planet can cope with? I have no doubt that as fossil fuel resources and food resources become more scarce with the increasing population, a point will come where severe wars will take place between countries for those resources or because one country is polluting the planet more than the rest believe it should. If this happens in a hundred years time, there will be a guaranteed cull of our species through advanced weaponry and maybe we will be back at a more sustainable level of population then. Unfortunately, all species of the planet will suffer through this and not just the species that caused the problem. Isn't it better to start dealing with the problem now rather than wait for the inevitable cull of the guilty and innocent?
Further down the page, you will find a horrible video of Canadian cavemen murdering seals on the ice flows of the eastern cost of Canada. I have put this video on this page in the hope that it will shock you into supporting my favourite animal welfare charity, the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW). I had my best holiday ever in Canada and this was largely because of the inherent beauty of the country its wildlife and the conservation strategies of the country to enable wildlife to flourish. Yet Canada has this ugly scar on its character by allowing this barbaric act to take place around March / April every year, mainly so that a few fishing communities can make money from the pelts of these defenceless animals. If you find this video abhorrent (and if you don't, I would rather you left now) then please agree to never buy anything made from seal products and consider supporting the IFAW.
In a further video at the bottom of the page, you will find another video of scumbags beating elephants and tigers to make them perform in the Ringling Circus. While this only shows evidence of cruelty from one circus company, I believe that animal abuse in many circuses is widespread and I will not attend any animal circus for this reason and I urge anyone who cares about animals to do the same.
