PAULA CHAMPA.. had a former career as a rally driver in northern Europe, but was abruptly forced to change professions after a collision involving an errant flower cart severely compromised the use of her clutch foot. During rehabilitation, she acquired a black belt in Bikram yoga and a habit of writing on long train rides. NATHAN ALLING LONG.. who collects beach glass, broken sticks, and the ends of candles, began writing stories as a boy in a hut in a forest on some undisclosed continent. Now he lives in the tallest house on the tallest hill in the most populated state, where he fashions tees and stories from the footprints of wild animals that cross his porch. JESSAMYN JOY ROSS.. began the story of her adventures in the raisin capital of the world, Central California, traveling from the Alps to the Canadian Arctic before returning in triumph to fashion stories.
