People who are open-minded and inspired. People who have non-materialistic goals. People on paths and journeys, whether they be international or internal. If I could meet anyone from history it would probably be someone like Ghandi, Bob Marley or the current Dalai Lama. If they have to be alive then Manu Chao or Jack Johnson. They both make music that make people dance and feel inspired. Manu Chao is rad because he speaks all sorts of languages and I feel he can relate to a good portion of the world. Jack Johnson not only makes music, but his films are impressive. Also he has the spirit of a surfer and he's begun to travel and soak up other cultures and ideas. He made a really cool comment when I saw him about how radical it was for him (who grew up near Pearl Harbor) to be singing and dancing with an international group of people in Hiroshima. Conciousness, creativity, soul.

I tend to like books that evoke optimism from sad situations. I usually enjoy modern classics, but read Harry Potter to relax. Some of my favorites are The Great Gatsby, And You Shall Know Our Velocity, The Sun Also Rises and The Winter of Our Discontent. There are different books for different sitautions. I'll take Kerouac (Esp. Dharma Bums) for a travel companion but prefer Vonnugut's humor (Time Quake) for restroom reading. Right now I'm into Haruki Murakami and Jose Samarago.
Albert Schweitzer, Ghandi, Nelson Mandela, John Lennon, the young Che and others who are so intelliegently brave
