..Reading, sketching, crosswords, science mags, learning Spanish, shadows, sleeping, avoiding crowds, observing people from a distance, freaking out, staying calm, pretending I can string together components of the English language into something vaguely coherent and possibly interesting, venting, feminism, wasting time, contemplating time and ancient calendars, animals, animal behavior, vacillating, constantly battling my lacking attention span, talking to strangers, Chicago's Bosnian population, libraries, the Natural History Museum, comics, bike rides, rooftops, stuff... Do you like... stuff?
Oscar Wilde, Amy Racecar and the infamous purple crayon. Aldous Huxley, John Galbraith.
Rachmaninoff, Yeah Yeah Yeahs... Brahms, Radiohead/ Thom Yorke, Antony and the Johnsons, Shostakovich, Bjork, Phillip Glass, Magnetic Fileds, Diamanda Galas, Angels of Light- even though Mr. Gira creeps me in a bad way,The Cramps, Guitar Wolf, the same old punk stuff that everyone likes, Modest Mouse, Big Black forever and ever, silence...
Here I would like to say I am most fascinated with obscure, arty film makers and "The Classics". However, that's not the case. I've enjoyed a couple of Werner Herzog films and bits of Guy Madden as well as Matthew Barney... I'd like to explore more but that's all I've got for now... I do enjoy documentaries, but for the most part, I gravitate toward anything with ass kicking females as the prominent theme... Faster Pussycat, Kill Kill! Heavenly Creatures, The Addiction, The Bad Seed, I Shot Andy Warhol, Switchblade Sisters (even before Quentin Terentino decided it was cool) Kill Bill, and recently, Death Proof and Hard Candy. I also enjoy movies about werewolves and animation... I love "The Plague Dogs". Sorry if that isn't sophisticated enough for ya!
The "L" Word. Curb Your Enthusiasm. Dexter. I watch everything in reruns or years after the fact.
Some favorites - "I Lock My Door Upon Myself" - Joyce Carol Oates, and "The Tattooed Girl" also by Joyce Carol Oates... "Foxfire", also Joyce Carol Oates...
Are a silly notion.
