Sick Pony

About Me

Sick Pony is a family reunion of sorts- A musical home for many traveling musicians and friends who often find themselves back in Montana after months of touring, traveling, going to school, and starting families. Playing host to this reunion are John Sabestinas, and Kit Johnson. Friends since High School, Johnson and Sabestinas have been playing together in many different musical forms since 1999. As their music catalog grows, so do the musicians who join the Pony. Musical forms ranging from Bluegrass, Rock, Folk, Punk, and Ragtime will make their way into the set every time Sick Pony takes the stage. Hope to see you there.

The origins of the name are not known but it is believed to stem from an association with one of the many Gypsy, Spanish and Italian buskers who were popular in London in the Victorian era. In Australia, this instrument constructed with beer-bottle tops is known as a lagerphone, a variation of the traditional aboriginal instrument using shells. Yep.
