Some say 'collaboration is the highest form of art' and letting someone interpret your work requires a sense of adventure.
The remix release (coming soon) will feature various artists remixing songs from from three different Chase Frank albums. Sweet!
Frank's first album, 'Bee of My Mind', gets the treatment of DJ Asylum interpreting "All Voices" ("Dark Sin mix"). And the 'first ever' remix, Shea Gauer's "Sweet Bee Returns", which appeared as a reprise, and what a beautiful ambient voice he gave the instrumental. Chase Frank's recent release, Midnight Manor, gets the treatment of LA undergound hero Jon Hershfield, with his "Doubt--Uncertainty Mix".
The interpretations take the songs to new places, which is what remixing's all about. No idea tabu.
Musician/writer/producer Dave Williams does his magic with "Drop Out", a song Chase Frank wrote when performing with the 5-piece version of a previous project, Quiverfish that was never released. Beats by Devastata (aka Dave Williams) did his MPC magic, then conducting a four hour session that created a jungle of sound.
Watch for a release date in 2009. Until then, enjoy! While you're here check out the artist's who remixed in 'top friends', they make the world go around.
