Venice Basketball League & Kids Venice Basketball LeagueVBL MISSION: Every Saturday throughout the 2008 summer, NBA-caliber basketball meets the street. No ticky-tack fouls. No free throws. Just the world's best street-ballers playing for keeps on Venice Beach's legendary beachfront courts. On-court cameras take you from the backcourt to the backboard while professional commentators call the game, play-by-play. Inspiring interviews and profiles of diverse players and coaches who elevate the game and the community. V.B.L. - Street ball as real as it gets.KVBL MISSION: Kids Venice Basketball League (KVBL) is a not-for-profit collective committed to empowering Los Angeles' underserved children with essential healthy life and street-basketball skills. Participants receive instruction in the skills and philosophy of street-ball from celebrity guest coaches and well-known street-ball champions from around the world. Participants are taught alternative health and healing practices by Yoga Masters. Breakfast and Lunch are provided and assist fitness trainers and nutritionists in using a hands-on approach to teach participants fit lifestyle practices including healthy eating and good nutrition both on and off the court. Participants are given a weekly “Lifestyle Fitness Challenge†where they are compelled to integrate lessons learned from the previous week into their lifestyle while engaging their parents/guardians. Life lessons including hard work, tolerance, follow-through and appreciation are taught by awarding participants and parents with clothes, computers, shoes, and school supplies upon successful completion of the Challenge. In addition to the physical and emotional benefits, it is the goal of KVBL to cultivate community “fun healthy lifestyle†leaders from this experience.VBL & KVBL THANKS CURRENT AND FUTURE SPONSORS
