My Reason To Walk...
~~~My Grandmother died of cancer a few years ago.. Once we found out that she had cancer we did not have long with her. Between the chemo treatments and Radation along with the two surgeries. The day I lost her was one of the hardest days of my life. But I remember the good times.. When she felt good and we went shopping and spent time together. She was always smiling and did not let the CANCER get her down. She did what she wanted to do which was spend time with her family. And we took advantage of every SECOND!! I believe that if she was here today she would say never stop Trying to beat the odds. Live every second like it is your last and spend lots of time with the people you love. My Grandma did not get to particpate in many Relays but the few that she did she loved them and it was such a JOY to see her do that survivors lap.
~~~Lisa Doughtie she was a Fighter for so long but she was always smiling she never thought of herself she was always thinking about what she could do for someone else. No matter how bad it hurt to walk (she had bone cancer)**along with many others** she was always asking how are you.. She never thought about herself or how she was feeling. She was always smiling that beautiful smile and was Captain of the team Bosom Buddies at our local Relay in Tarboro.. She always raised so much and was such a recruiter for the Relay and a Hero to fellow survivors and everyone who knew her.
~~~ My step mom Kim who has cancer since I have known her she has been through so much the chemo the radation.. Many surgeries and hair loss. weight loss everything you can think of... She is still fighting.. smiling. And she loves our local Relay she is the one that does the chicken cooks and she sells bows and anything that she can..
