We are putting together a comp of all present day local bands, covering songs from the locals who inspired them! We want everyone to be involved who is interested, so here's how you become a part of it!
1) Contact us and tell us you want to be on the CD! Pretty simple...
2) Pick the song and band you want to do. We are not so much looking for covers of new bands around here that just popped up. Try to pick something at least 4 years old, thats a good guideline. If it is 10 or 15 years old, even better!
3) Pick back up songs or alternate bands. There will be people trying to cover the same songs possibly, and only we will have the final say over who gets to do what song! We do this to ensure this will be a quality release!
4) Realize by choosing to commit to this you will be financially responsible to pay for your own recording and will have a deadline. This is a long term project so don't get yer panties in a whad over it! Just think it through and join up if it sounds right for you!
5) All recordings will be done at NITROSONIC recording studio in Lexington, KY and produced by Brian Pulito, Mark Borders and Andrew Hibpshman. We have chose to do the recording this way because we are going for a consistency in the sound of the compilation so it flows more like an album, and like 3) we want to ensure a quality release that can be promoted locally and nationally and sound awesome! We want this to be the greatest thing ever!

Eugene Records was official in 1997 when we made 1000 copies of an Infected/Redheaded Stepchildren 7" record. Eugene was originally (for about 7 years, and soon to be again!) a print fanzine started in September 1995 that included ridiculous rants, record reviews, stories and poetry. There were interviews with tons of bands, including local and national bands. We would feature one local band interview in every issue and eventually these bands started putting out records. So we needed a name for the label. We formed the Eugene Army to undermine the way things were done, and do it our own way. We were and still are a group of friends dedicated to putting out awesome music, videos, zines etc... with a community mentality and strict DIY ethic. The website, www.eugenerecords.com was started in 1998 to become on online zine and promote the label. We named the fanzine "Eugene" after the cool kid who always said "Fuuuu-uuuuuuu-uuuuuuuuuuuck" in the Penelope Spheeris documentary, "the Decline of Western Civilization." We took a picture off the TV screen 12 years ago and still use it today. Ha! Who would've known we'd still be around doing this today? 30 some releases later, still no major distribution, hardly any recognition, and we still put out records and do our thing.
