Yes, I love Pit Bulls and have a deaf one now...rescued in May. My best friend (also Pit) died in April of aggressive cancer that is rare and just spread everywhere. Anyway, he was the love of my life....Was with me through a lot.As far as I'm concerned, there should be no more Pit Bull breeders until the overpopulation of the breed goes down (I think there are 10,000 on petfinder that are listed as Pit Bull, that does not count the ones listed American Bulldog or Staffordshire Terrier) but I'm not stupid. Breeding is not going to stop. The only Pit Bull Breeders that need to be able to stay in business are the ones who are breeding dogs that are registered with a reputable registry such as UKC, ADBA or AKC. (UKCI, CKC, AADR, DRA and APBR are not considered reputable registries.)
-Have every puppy spoken for before they breed 2 dogs.
- Have a buyers contract stating the dog will never be given away or taken to the shelter and other stipulations (like rescues do with their adoption contract)
-Require that puppies who do not meet the breed standard ("pet quality" puppies) be spayed/neutered.
-Not have multiple litters per year
-Not sell over the internet
The new fad is the "short and wide" Pit Bull. They have almost no athletic ability and numerous physical problems due to extreme overbreeding (as seen on camelotpitbulls.com where he states which dogs are inbred- UNREAL)
Also Blue Pits are "in" right now. They have genetic skin problems-Demodex. Tripp, my deaf Pittie is white with a Blue patch over his eye, and had Demodex at age 15 weeks. He has super sensitive skin and has to eat special (expensive) food b/c of it.Well, I could go on and on...
