The Virgin Queen

I am here for Friends

About Me

I am Queen Elizabeth I a.k.a The Virgin Queen, Good Queen Bess, Gloriana, or Faerie Queene. I am Queen of England, Ireland, and France. I am NOT 99 years old, but I am actually 474 years old. Oh my! Now I know why a lady never reveals her age!I have lived a crazy life! I was born September 7, 1533 to King Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn. Now, we all know the story behind my father and all his wives/divorces/executions; so therefore, I was declared an illegitimate child at age three when he had my mother executed. I was imprisioned, accused of being involved in plots to take over the throne, and therefore, fell under suspicion of my own sister. Some people even wanted me killed because I was a protestant! So, as you can see, it was a little touch and go there for awhile on whether I would ever rule, but at age 25, upon my sister Mary's death, I took the throne (November 17, 1558). I never married, and I don't believe I would have been able to carry out my work if I had. In fact, I am quoted as saying, "I have already joined myself in marriage to a husband, namely the Kingdom of England." I achieved a lot during my reign, but the two things I am most proud of was what I did for the Church of England (The Anglican Church) and the Spanish Armada which helped lay the groundwork to settle the colonies of the New World. I even have an American state named after me - Virginia (for the Virgin Queen)! If you want to know more, just ask..... Two poems written by me
