From THE HOOTCH-fancine...The Sultans is a finnish two-man band. They released two 7.. single Houserocki..n(IKBALS-015) 1995, Hometown blues/Funky(IKBALS-016) 1997, LP The Sultans (SLR-010) 2009 on Sporting Life Records, live LP Fullfrontal Live, hki (Temmikongi) 2008 , CD live at Club panic, hki (Musapojat - MUP014) 2009 and two track..s (Houserocki..n, No place to go)Passions of Laja Aijala CD(BAD VUGUM-Bad50X) 2004 and one track (Sultans theme) Veli, sisko, kuulet kumman soiton, AVANTO compilation 2004 CD(AAAAA-2004). Background or some kinda history of the Sultans? Well, actually it started back in the 80.....what it was...about 85..,while we got these old men..s hobbies, and we'll listened this kinda stuff ...played the blues with warm feelings, those fucking so called musicians, they play it too clean. The Sultans is more like brutal action, primitive.Naturally you sit down and play, just sit and play and when it gets really groove you might get up from the chair. Mr, T Aijala who plays the drums on our first 7..left the band 2000 and since then mr, M Leinonen plays these boogie drums. Is your music all instrumental or is there any singed tunes? Well, we..ll try to put some vocal to few songs little bit but mostly it..s instrumental and very simple, simple as shit, just guitar and drums, only rule is that it goes like train. Is your music Chicago style or Mississippi Delta? More like city style, electric basically, we like John Lee Hooker, Howlin..Wolf and of course Theodore Taylor..s classic stuff we..re listened as long we can remember, maybe from 74..or something, and there..s too Slim Harpo. Where do you classificate your music if somebody would ask it? Somekinda primitive blues, boogie. Are you influenced by rock-a-billy? Yes..

... that too, twisted rockabilly, Link Wray has always been our favourite and The Cramps too. Suicide or Alan Vega crossed my mind when i heard the first single? There..s that aspect too. All this comes when you listen all kind of music and you..re like a filter, everything goes through you and you mix it up and so on. Like when we're rehearsed first time, it just went on and went on. The song was so good we were scared to stop it, just plain weird wank, da-da-da-daa and here we go again, once we played an hour, just one song and we were all wet-through from sweat. That song was Hound Dog Taylor..s She..s gone. One last question. What kind of a movie would be a perfect for the Sultans music? Maybe black and white movie. Somewhere in a big city, in the middle of the dark, like those 40..and 50..movies, those so called noir films. Burlesgue, deep dark and humid, whores and faggots, music..s play..in loud in the middle of the dark...
