About Me

Johnny is the lead singer and lead guitarist for "drunk on sunday", a West Palm based rock band that took their name from a line in a Black Crowes song (anyone?). Johnny started as a band geek in Alabama, playing drums for the marching band. If you think it's geeky to be in the high school band, imagine what it's like in Alabama! His geekdom, paired with the isolation of rural Alabama, gave him plenty of time to practice, but he soon grew tired of banging on his drum all day and turned to his father's acoustic guitar. By the time he finished high school, his skills earned him a scholarship to Palm Beach Atlantic University in West Palm Beach, where he double majored in Classical Guitar and Computer Information Systems. During college he formed a band called Ebenezer Stone which performed throughout Florida and received airplay on local radio stations. Originally, Ebenezer Stone was unable to find a singer so Johnny began "filling in". After a while, he sounded good enough to keep the role as lead singer. Also during college, Johnny did a brief European tour as the guitarist for a group called "Image" along side Nashville drumming sensation Mitch McMitchen (Brad Paisley). After college, Johnny shifted gears and began a "day job" working with police service dogs. It wasn't long until the call of the stage was too strong to ignore. Johnny began playing all original music with his acoustic guitar at coffee shops and night clubs until he formed "drunk on sunday". "Drunk on sunday plays Johnny's original songs, like the popular "Can't Treat a Ho Like a Lady" and "White Girl", and an eclectic mix of cover rock (Z.Z Top, Sublime, 311, Disturbed, Eagles, Hendrix). Johnny is a true believer that journeys are much more rewarding than destinations and is therefore always trying to improve and expand. He is finishing a Pre-Law degree at Barry University in December and will begin Law School in the fall of 2009. Johnny's influences are Stevie Ray Vaughn, B.B. King, Led Zeppelin, The Black Crowes, and Richard Dawkins.
