About Me
About the Band:
PETELSHOT ("PS") is not your ordinary band... One listen to the recorded material and the first time you see a live performance, youll understand why. PS is a band that has continually pressed the boundaries of its sound. A pioneering blend of soulful melodies, hard rock riffs, and true school hip-hop rhymes that radiates energy evocative of the golden era of music where artists did it for the love and creativity was primacy.
The PETELSHOT sound is a myriad of styles, with influences varying from gritty street corner rhymes, to rocked out grooves mixed with the pure emotional strings of classical violin. Even with such broad influences, PS still manages to seamlessly blend together all these elements to create an epic sound. PETELSHOT approaches the creative stage of producing music with a relentless effort to be sure that each element fits perfectly.Pleasure and Pain, thrills and agony, trials and tribulations...the emotional roller coaster of life threaded through a world of uncertainty..In a word, Experience. In PETELSHOT'S case, it's the progression and development of talents from a melting pot of styles, into one unique and unforgettable sound. A basic outline of a vision which is brought to life right before your ears...Welcome. Witness the birth of a new genre.
PETELSHOT, an unconventional band with rock, hip hop, classical, and alternative influences, has worked feverishly since its inception to achieve a sonic synergy that would be respected and appreciated by fans of all genre's of music. After 2 plus years of recording and over 50 songs and concepts laid down, PETELSHOT has decided to spoon feed their audience by using tracks that weren't selected for their main album (currently untitled), and emphasizing a heavier and more abundant hip-hop element as a prequel of what's to come. Thus releasing them as THE EXPERIENCE.
Here, PETELSHOT's journey as an 8-member ensemble is thoughtfully laid out over a vivid palette of concepts. The story, which is styled as a musical narrative, is set using a comical meeting with a fictional label executive... the arrogant British accented Hugh Gassman (Riggs Morales). Gassman becomes intrigued by the band's presentation as he makes several weak attempts at giving needless advice throughout the cd. The witty tale develops both musically and conceptually from start to finish and climaxes with tracks more indicative of the PETELSHOT sound.
Social issues are brought to the forefront with a genuine confidence in songs such as "'Round Here", "PS" and the inevitably emotional "Otis". "Otis.. is a true, first person account of two lifetime friends torn apart by the war in Iraq. The detailed conversation piece is an eye opening tale, which is sure to give chills to even the toughest of listener. The album is saturated with concept driven records. Even the most hip-hop of all, "80 Mil", is lyrically laced with braggadocio, prophesizing PS's rise to the top. The most well-rounded and powerful track on the album, "End Like This", tells about the consequences of the drug game in the most unique way. The epic features a verse by recently signed Aftermath recording artist, Joell Ortiz. On the opposite end of the spectrum, the catchy, grandiose chorus is blessed with harmonies by rock music legend, Ian Lloyd (Stories, Social Hero).
Experience to many is measured in time...the creative movement known as PETELSHOT measures it in value...and that very value is heavily reflected in the self portrait composition simply referred to as THE EXPERIENCE.
