I live near Philly where I work as a graphic designer. I have 2 "kids" named Chico and Moses (german shepard mix and shetland sheepdog, respectively). On May 20th 2007, the dumb child (Chico) ate rat poison, nearly died, and has nerve loss to his back feet causing him to need orthotics (leg braces). We've lovingly taken to calling him "Gimp Dog" among other politically INcorrect slangs. When I say "we," I mean me and Matt (the guy who forced me into wedlock)... I love my boys ;-)
My man bitch and I have been restoring an old Dutch Colonial for the past 2.5 years... I believe "anything worth having, is worth working for." (I tell myself that to lessen the pain of continued chaos and camp-like conditions) We've been doing everything ourselves ...UNTIL we decided that we should get help with the kitchen (gut job) to allow Matt and myself to continue renovating in other areas. Long story, short... we're trekking through 'contractor' hell... knee deep in lies and thieves. Since our hired help stormed off the job (with the cash), we've taken on the remaining duties. All in all, I'm happy we lost the 'dead weight'... and having fun building the room from scratch.
Others have described me as loud, driven and quirky with a wicked sense of humor, yet passionate and empathetic to a fault. Although, only one person truly knows my heart and complexities.. the others know the "ang" I show them. My intention is not to be dishonest, but to protect them from the blackness that fills my thoughts... and mostly, I do this to protect my heart from the blackness in others. My armor has served me well and I advise all to invest in some of their own. Life experiences... good and bad... have led me to this surrender.
On a lighter side, I consider myself to be quite the dork... enjoying learning, laughing, practical jokes, funny people, animals, sunshine, playing frizbee with the boys, gardening, ancient history, religious studies, acting like a freak, Animal Planet and Star Trek. I also thrive on philosophical discussions and witty banter.
UPDATE 6.17.08 ::::: Kitchen's done... it turned out awesome. Now we're working on the exterior, lawn, and garden. And although we love to garden, we're having issues with the design... which you would think that I'd be good at since I have an 'eye' for such things. Well, I don't and I suck. But evidently not enough, according to my husband ;-)
