About Me

Jerry Rio was conceived during the peak of the baby boom explosion sometime in the mid 50’s. Growing up on the model suburban land mass known as Long Island his fairytale childhood was typical for a hyperactive kid from your average dysfunctional family in Nassau County. As with most of his generation young Jerry spends endless hours watching television, classic sitcoms, weird commercials and especially horror and sci fi flicks on the exalted Chiller Theatre. Comics (Marvel were the best) and Mad magazine (especially the paperbacks) also had a major impact on young Jerry’s creative development. AM radio during its golden era of pop hits featuring frantic DJ’s playing tacky commercials and jingles were also very influential. Around age 12 rock and roll takes hold and Jerry takes to the garage/basement as his electric guitar becomes a thing of worship. Participating in many hippie rituals including the complete psychedelic experience Jerry’s mind is expanded several inches a year until he reaches Nirvana at age seventeen. The College years where about getting high, playing in a Grateful Dead cover band and not getting laid, oh yeah, he also occasionally went to classes. Participating in, and observing many outrageous scenes Jerry develops a first hand knowledge of many culturally significant developments including: Bar Mitzvah mayhem, rock festivals, psychedelic hallucinations, disco culture, Quaalude orgies, punk rock, new wave/no wave, powerpop, cheesy lounge band traditions, nightclubbing, Stand Up comedy, Gorilla video technique and underground cable access programming. Jerry’s relentless pursuit of female companionship and sexual gratification give him a comprehensive understanding of the female mind and the dynamics of repetitive rejection. Jerry utilizes his qualifications as a semi certified psychologist (completed several introductory psychology courses at various colleges) to study everything from sexual relationships to clinical depression in Jewish women. Jerry has written and directed several acclaimed documentaries studying mating rituals and other sexual explorations. A self-certified relationship expert Jerry has counseled many couples on the dynamics of developing and maintaining a normal healthy relationship. His groundbreaking documentary titled “Plight of the Powerless Male” is an in depth exploration into the lives of those males unable to acquire willing, conscious sexual partners without payment. In this particular study he follows three subjects who have not been laid in several years to find out what characteristics link these unintentionally celibate individuals. With acute communication skills and incredible insight Jerry interacts and conducts numerous in depth interviews with a variety of personalities that are interesting, enlightening, and highly entertaining.
