Demo produced by Henry Bourne:
'For a band that have been together for barely a year,
Leeds funk-blues-rock outfit Captain Backfire have
mustered an impressively slick three track demo.
Opener 'I'll Be Waiting' begins with overdriven, funky
guitar chops that build up to a memorable chorus
that proves to be the highlight of the entire EP, swooning
backing vocals swirling and melting around
Greg Nicholas' jazz trumpet. 'Good Friday' resembles
a rocked-up Jamiroquai with some fantastic, ballsy
soloing by Reece Jacob, whilst 'Loose Change'
demonstrates the band's ability to build a song
around a hook. It also evidences a rhythm section so
tightly knit and coordinated it's hard to believe that
they haven't been making music for longer.

'Live performance, absolutely fantastic, lead singer quality great.' - Amy Zayed - Radio Manchester/Ian Brown press
'[Captain Backfire] have the funk, big up for the trumpet!!' - Andy Rourke - The Smiths
Good Friday –
Close boy band harmonies a cappella with a Wonderish/Clintonesque/Chilis funk-up. Not quite full though, and I’m thinking Toploader. Hmmm, dubious.
I'll Be Waiting –
More porn funk, with obligatory horn. Definitely early Chilis here and some very sleazy guitar and bass – funk metal reborn?
Loose Change –
Jangly tambourines join the party as the vocals get so laid back that they’re horizontal – lacks seasoning, but still saucy.
