I Have An Embarrassing Confessing I Have To Make...
Dear entrepreneur and business person,
Yes it's true! I have a rare compulsive mental condition known as “Maniacal Marketers Disease” it affects but a tiny statistical few, and unfortunately it is totally incurable.
The mantra of people who suffer this dreadful ailment is... “If only I can spend my last living moments at my marketing desk”!
Great NEWS for you is... my obsession can make you mountains of bankable-cash!
So who is Matt Allbeury and how did I get this terrible affliction?
In 1980 my school invited me to leave... Which I ignorantly but eagerly accepted.
After approximately 3 weeks of officially escaping school, I was to receive the very first of many, many wake-up calls... "No employer wanted to give me their top paying position"!
Can you imagine? I mean ... I knew everything! Heck I was 16 – Don't all 16 year olds know everything?
It was at this painful moment my dad gave me some tender, loving fatherly advice... “Get a JOB or get out of my house”!
I had 2 choices either the French Foreign legion or Sales, as these were the only people that would take me right away. Since I have an intense allergic reaction to having my legs and arms blown off or being shot like a wilder beast, I had only one choice left.
Consequently, my career started in selling door to door encyclopaedias and by the time I was in my mid twenties, I had sold clothes – women’s bikinis (this was a fantastic job), surf accessories to surf shops, cars, trucks, coffee machines, guttering, home improvements, business opportunities, sales training, self improvement products, I could go on but you get the pictures...
I did lots and lots of telemarketing and door to door canvassing Plus heaps of in home selling.
By my late twenties I could no longer endure being an employee and dived straight into a string of small businesses. Launching businesses and getting traffic - clients - customers was relatively easy, however the labourious multitude of mind-numbingly boring tasks required to run a small business bored me to destraction and eventually to destruction, thus my businesses failed (due to my lack of desire to do all the necessary work small businesses require).
I had many business people come to me for advice on how to advertise, promote and market their businesses until one day someone suggested I actually do it professionally, and the rest as they say is history!
Since then I have written print ads, flyers, brochures, postcards, sales-copy (copywriting), sales presentations, websites and complete marketing systems for hundreds of businesses both tiny and large and also some very notorious companies and entrepreneurs (some are now in jail - but not due to my marketing), which hire me for my outrageous and very unique marketing approach.
My main focus now is creating complete turn-key money making marketing systems and relationship marketing (otherwise known as referral marketing) for businesses and entrepreneurs
Each year I cut back on my consulting availability, and I'm very selective about who I choose as a client, especially for copywriting jobs.
Today 99% of my work is by word of mouth. I do not bid or compete for a clients work! I pass-on lots of work for a variety of reasons but mostly because cloning is still illegal and until I can legally clone myself, I simple don’t have time.
I know your thinking “but, hey there's tons of marketing consultants out there”! And Yes your right... Well at least that’s what they call themselves, but the truth is very, very few can aid you. Most of them are 99% theorists, at best.
They haven’t walked the streets knocking on doors to make money to feed themselves; they haven't worked on 100% commission only - their entire life... This takes balls! To live like that, you're either good at what you do, or you starve.
That's why people come to me exclusively because they know if you positively have to get results you go with the guy who’s been putting his balls on the line everyday of his life for 27+ years – that’s me.
The world is awash with also-rans and me-too's, there isn't any real competition for my level of expertise, of the very few that are at my level, they too are booked out months (even years) in advance and won't be competing against me.
Marketing is all about understanding human nature and behaviour. If, whether you eat or starve tonite is 100% dependant on your ability to make and close the sale - right at the prospects door (or over the their telephone or via advertisement - copy), then you get good fast or you get a new job, real fast!
I have lived by this code of ethics for nearly 30 years. I know of NO genuine marketing Guru that has not experienced this hard merciless beginning. There are "mee-Too's" and there are the diehard fanatics – the fanatics are deeply passionate people who love what they do, they eat, live and breathe their profession and don't do it just to pay the mortgage. These people are the A list of who’s who in any profession. There is an enormous gap between them and the next rung down.
You can always afford the top-shelf... Cheap and nasty is... well, just - cheap and NASTY!
