The lyrical content in some of his original work is often deemed controversial because there is not a subject matter that this misunderstood artist will not write about. “I boldly go where few male artists willingly go and that’s my edge†exclaims the man-child budding artist.Born Anthony Davis in Washington, DC, February 14th, ADE (ah-day), life was far from easy for such a shy introvert ADE was at the time. The creation of music and art had become a way of escaping a harsh and brutal environment of gangs, drugs and many other vices associated with growing up in the ghetto. ADE began his flight into the world of show business at the tender age of four. One would easily find ADE performing and singing in everything from talent showcases to musical dramas and award ceremonies. It wasn’t until he entered senior high school that his urge to perform before a world-wide stage, would preoccupy him. He had performed and traveled all over the country with the world renowned Eastern High concert choir, which covered materials from classical, pop, concert to gospel.At 19 years of age, ADE joined the Everyday Theater Youth ensemble, which was a group of creative teens and young adults who used musical theater as a means of empowering 'at risk' inner city kids. It was there, that had really begun honing his skills as a songwriter, actor, singer and dancer. He wrote original music; co-wrote stage plays and facilitated youth empowerment workshops. He is credited for performing in and co-writing the very successful original musical dramas, “The Ultimate Decision†and “Tony’s Girlsâ€, which both had been given great exposure by way of the Public Broadcasting System (PBS). ADE has received two consecutive years of honorable mention in the annual Washington Songwriters contest, where two of his entries simultaneously reached the top five in two different categories. ADE has artistic abilities, well beyond your typical singer and songwriter but as an actor, dancer, painter and graphic designer. He has spent years performing in various venues while fronting bands such as the high-energy funk and soul group called; D.A.T.E., Alternate Route and Titanium Soul. In conjunction to his long history performing with bands and various ensembles, ADE has performed in some of the most prestigious arenas as well - one such events was the National Police Challenge (NPC), where he had sung the National Anthem, two consecutive years! In the late nineties, ADE, dropped out of the entertainment field to pursue a career with the Federal Government but it was not long before his true passion consumed him once again. Thereafter, he made the decision to independently write, produce and market his own CD; a long term dream. His first CD, entitled “The SOULution†is a compellation of original songs that’s a perfect blend of all of his most influential musical genre and artists.ADE is gracious and determined to make an irrefutable statement to all those who are willing to listen, that his talent is boundless and a force to reckon with.
