JOHN FOSTER-BROOKS

JOHN FOSTER-BROOKS junior in high school and one of Chicago's up and coming young jazz musicians brought up and inspired to keep pursuing music by chicagos own Diane Ellis who first presented the saxophone to him. He then branched off into other organizations such as jazz institute of Chicago ( President of THE jazz links student council), Thelonious Monk institute, merit school of music ( honors jazz ensemble) , and bands such as Pharez Whittieds harvest big band, south shore youth jazz ensemble led by DR. Ron Carter & Jim kazmeric & Ruben cooper . Thur his experiences and collaboration with these organizations he has learned to grow as a musician/performer. His influences come from other players he works beside and from mentors/teachers( Diane Ellis , Ari brown, Ian Torres, DR. Ron Carter ,Pharez Whittied, Jarrard Harris, Pat Malinger, Rob Denty,and JON FADDIS, SCOTT BURNS, ERNIE ADAMS, KEN CHANEY, BOBBY IRVING III, J.B. DYAS ) as well as JAZZ GREATS.He has had the opportunity to learn and work with some of the best musicians out there such as Charlie Haden,Jon Faddis, Robert Irving III, Ira Sullivan,Brian Lynch,Ernie Adams,Roy Hargrove, Orbert Davis, Walter Blanding, Clark terry, Bobby Watson, and Terrell Stafford. He still strives to learn as much as he possibly can from people he meet so that he may mature as an jazz musician/Educator/performer and hopes to meet you to some day.
