We are a cultural organization dedicated to the teaching and promotion of capoeira. Our goal is to create the right environment for capoeira to thrive as the dynamic and traditional art form that it is.As important as it is to pass on all that capoeira encompasses (movement, music, traditions, history, philosophy and rituals), it is also important what the individual and larger community gains from capoeira. We believe that capoeira is a wonderfully fun, challenging, and meaningful way to get healthier, to become more physically and mentally alert, emotionally balanced, musically and socially engaged. Capoeira can be a means for great personal transformation and expression, as well as a unifying force that builds community. With respect for the great capacity that capoeira has to inspire, we aim to teach with such a perspective.If you wish to take a class at the UCA-Berkeley, please come to the introductory class on either Monday, Wednesday, or Friday.
