Patrick Hovious, or “Moose†to those that know him, had an early start in music by chance. It’s been twelve years since he won his first instrument, a harmonica, as a door prize at a carnival on a warm summer’s evening. What started as a small hobby evolved into a passion for music as he gradually began picking up on techniques by intuition alone. As he became musically fluent, he began playing with his father’s band The Possum Hunters, a group specializing primarily in Bluegrass. Eventually he made something of a name for himself locally, and by the age of sixteen he was placing first in competitions including the Uncle Dave Macon Days Festival in Murfreesboro, TN. Other appearances which he counts himself fortunate to have been a part of include local televised performances and a spot on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. He primarily plays the harmonica and the guitar but also spends time practicing a few other musical instruments.
