I am here for Friends

About Me

I've been happily married since 2005 to my wife Cheryl. We have a son, Nathan, who is 1 year old. We recently moved into a house that we had built in Muskego, which is a little outside of Milwaukee. I've lived in Wisconsin all of my life with the exception of an ill-advised 6 month detour in Las Vegas. I'm a cat guy and have a 13 year old cat named Floyd. I work as a warehouse manager at a company that distributes Harley Davidson rec room supplies even though I'm not a Harley kind of guy. I read excessively and am quite the history nerd. I also belong to the Civil War Round Table of Wisconsin. That doesn't mean I'm a bore though. I love to laugh and make others laugh and have no time for rudeness, uptightness and people who just think they're better than the rest of us.

My Interests

Reading, road trips, listening to music, staring at the night sky, drinking imported and microbrew beers and affordable red wine, playing with my son, sitting in hot tubs, eating spicy foods...but not too spicey, watching the Brewers and Packers win, having days off.

I'd like to meet:

Considering I'm a history guy...most of the people I'd like to meet are long dead. Of the living, I'd say Anthony Bourdain, Johnny Depp, Andrew Zimmern, Barack Obama, Bono, Jon Stewart, Steven Cobert, Buddha...to name a few.

Music:

U2, Neko Case, Sonic Youth, The Smiths/Morrissey, Mazzy Star, Johnny Cash, Rosanne Cash, Emmylou Harris, Ivy, The Flaming Lips, The Arcade Fire, Blondie, Alison Krauss, The Clash, Social Distortion, Chris Isaak, Cat Power, Fiona Apple, Alice Smith, Liv Warfield, Elvis Costello, Modest Mouse, The Police, Santogold, Estelle, M.I.A

Movies:

I used to be a movie fanatic, not so much anymore. I love The Simpsons Movie though.

Television:

The Simpsons, Futurama, Ghost Hunters, The Daily Show, The Cobert Report, Antiques Roadshow, No Reservations, Bizarre Foods, Dinner Impossible

Books:

Anything history from Revolutionary War through Civil War, Uncle Tom's Cabin, Anything by Jack Kerouac, The Woman In White, War of the Worlds, Frankenstein, Dracula, A Tale of Two Cities, Babbit,The Moonstone, and the list goes on and on...

Heroes:

My parents of course, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, James Monroe, George Washington, Homer J. Simpson, Jack Kerouac, Anthony Bourdain, Andrew Zimmern, Abraham Lincoln, Ulysses S. Grant, Robert Irvine, Stonewall Jackson, Andrew Jackson, Robert La Follette, Frederick Douglass, Sojourner Truth.

My Blog

Road Trippin

I love road trips. If it was possible, I'd go on 2-3 a year. I fear though that my road trips and road trips in general are going to be a rare occurence. One visit to the pump and you know what I mean...

Padding my friends stats

First of all  before I rant a little about this, I must admit that I am completely and utterly guilty of this. What I speak of is the practice of adding musicians and celebrities as friends ...

Letting Someone Else Do the Work

I think I'll cop out this time and do a top ten list. I've always been a big fan of Thomas Jefferson and believe that his philosophy on life is something that is still true today. So for all of you ou...

Roadkill Rage

I don't know how many people who live in Wisconsin have noticed this...but there are a lot of dead animals on the side of the road. I've noticed this for a long time and just assumed that this was fre...

Bloggin’ Blues

What’s the deal with all of this bloggin anyways? It used to be a novel idea I guess, but now everyone is doing it. Do we really care about what Joe Schmoe in Idaho thinks about politics? O...

Evil Subdivisions

There’s a lot of farm land out where I live, but that is disappearing fast. I just found out that a large portion of farm field near where I live is going to be developed into cookie cutter subd...
