About Me

OverTheSun began life as an A-level Media Studies project where Matt, Tom and Adam disguised themselves under the name ‘Lamppost’. Having written such classics as ‘It’s a Mystery’ and ‘Flicker from Within’, which thankfully are nowhere to be heard nowadays, the lads moved onto writing a heart-wrenching love song for a corny music video, involving dancing Legomen. These two years of “studying” helped the 3 ever-maturing chaps make up their mind- they would form a band that would work towards becoming the best band to ever hail from Combs Ford. All three were too shy to sing on the big stage, so acquired a singer. The foursome named themselves ‘Guerrilla Orchestra’ and they went on to have two successful years, dangerously mixing covers and original material. Their most famous song, ‘Heratio’ is still a fan’s favourite and requested at OverTheSun gigs today! After the singer’s departure from the band, the boys could not bear to leave the showbiz world. They decided to drop all covers and take a lighter approach to song-writing. Matt decided to have a go at ‘Pulling on the Rope’, and became lead singer of the band. They decided a name change was in order and in April 2007, ‘OverTheSun’ fell from the Guerrilla’s womb. After building up a Setlist of new songs, independently recording the ‘Get out of Bed’ EP, and playing at venues round East Anglia to crowds of between 3 people (Norwich) and hundreds of people (Stowupland!?), the boys decided to record again in the summer of 2008. In search of a bigger sound, a synthesizer was added to the recordings. Wanting to recreate this sound for live performance, the three now-aged rockers approached their close friend and loyal follower, Blaine, to take on the synth responsibilities. Having used the end of 2008 and beginning of 2009 to disappear from the limelight and rehearse their repertoire with the new line-up, as well as finishing of the ‘Shooting Stars’ EP, OverTheSun have returned to action in March 2009 and eagerly await that important phone-call from a massive record company.
Our song 'Brand New Hat' is part of Rock2J's 'London's Twelve' album which can be downloaded from I-tunes here:
