Mile High Echo

Mile High Echo was a project of two songwriters coming together (Neal Ryan and Cody Westman) to perform and record. The result was many intimate performances and one CD of studio/live recordings. Cody Westman has been playing and writing music for 17 years, all of which began after the trade of a lifetime in his hometown of Smithers, B.C. “I wanted to play but didn’t have an instrument, so I traded my Nintendo and all my games for my first guitar, and never looked back.” From 1996-1999 Cody studied music at Selkirk College in Nelson, B.C, to go on and perform in Montreal and New York, finally settling on the west coast of Canada. A highlight was in 2004, when the multi-instrumentalist opened for rock and roll veteran Leon Russell at Richards on Richards in Vancouver. Cody’s previous work includes a solo CD (2005), and a punchy EP with his full band, High Society (2006)...................................................... ........................................................ Neal Ryan’s roots in music, as in life, come from his native Ireland. Neal has been very active in the music scene in Ireland, as well as Canada, where he has been residing for the past eleven years. Neal is a self-taught singer/guitarist with a strong grip on vocal harmonies and memorable songwriting. His influences as both a performer and songwriter stem from blues and folk music, and work their way through a wide variety of musical genres. “Playing music professionally is living the dream for me, and joining up with good friend and exceptional musician, Cody Westman, brings the dream well into view,” Neal says. ............................................................ .......................................................“Th ese guys have just touched on something world class.
