DIRECTED BY LEAR DEBESSONET
ORIGINAL LIVE MUSIC BY KELLEY MCRAE
One of New York’s freshest downtown directors, a Mississippi-blues singer/songwriter, and Brecht’s masterpiece come together for this daring new look at the age old problem of youth, hope, and faith in a greedy world.
Creator/Director Lear deBessonet’s (One of Time Out New York’s 25 to watch in 2006) tightly choreographed St. Joan of the Stockyards is a reinvention of Brecht’s savage masterpiece. Set in a richly imagined anachronistic world of 1920s Chicago and featuring original music by country/blues singer Kelley McRae, intrepid St. Joan and her Slaughterhouse King weave a cautionary tale for the 21st Century.
Featuring Kate Benson, Mike Crane, Jonny Green, Jessica Green, Peter McCain, Nate Schenkkan, Kristen Sieh, Richard Toth
