The Civil Tones

About Me

The Civil Tones embrace the organ and guitar sounds of southern soul combos, such as Booker T. and the M.G.'s. Memphis, not Malibu, is their Mecca. Not content, however, to merely reproduce the sounds of one genre, The Civil Tones deconstruct and recombine the elements of almost every major form of instrumental music from the 50's, 60's, and 70's (Surf, soul, jazz, lounge, film soundtrack) to create their own unique style of trippy vintage dance music.

Rotisserie Twist, 1996 | Soul Bucket, 1998 | Vodka and Peroxide, 2003
