About Me

Joe Quintana is a professional musician with more than 20 years of experience. He began playing guitar in rock bands while living in southern California during the 80's, and then he relocated to Puerto Rico where he currently lives. He's made a living out of music since then, performing an avarage of about 150 shows a year throughout the island. Usually he'll perform with his own band; "The Joe Quintana Band", but he has also performed with other bands and artists as well. On his spare time, he repairs and customizes guitars in his own shop; "Joe's Guitar Shop", and he recently began a career as a producer in his home studio; "August Moon Productions".

Joe Quintana began playing guitar at the age of seventeen. His biggest influence was Carlos Santana. This music appealed to him due to Santana's unique blend of blues, rock, jazz, and latin music. Melodic guitar players such as Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Larry Carlton, Neal Schon, and David Gilmour, helped considerably in forging Joe's guitar tone. Joe preferes to play with alot of melody and feel and loves to play with an intense amount of energy. His influences are obvious in his technique but his sound and phrasing are instantly recognizable as his own. His band performes a wide range of musical styles including blues, rock, funk, reggae, latin, fusion, and soul.

Joe's musical experiences include performing with other groups and artists aside from his own project. He's been featured as a special guest with many local bands in Puerto Rico over the last fifteen years. He was hired as lead guitarrist for singer/songwriter Roy Brown and this led him to perform outside of Puerto Rico several times, including a show in Venezuela in which he played guitar in front of 150,000 screaming fans. Singer/songwriter Anna Cheek has employed his talents on various occasions to play with her live and he also did some session work on her latest album. Most recently Joe became producer for singer/songwriter Sammy Ramirez's debut album. Not only did he produce the record but he also played many of the guitars on the recording and he co-wrote two of the songs as well. Joe is planning to release his own CD of original music sometime during 2008 which will include songs that he has written over the past 20 years. Anyone interested in blues, rock, and latin music will find his music interesting and exciting due to a mix of musical styles and intelligent lyrics.
