2. an early suggestion inspired by a picture of Jane Mansfields dog lying dead in a gutter

3. a similar response to an infamous RSPCA campaign featuring a pile of dead dogs.

DDM stand against injustice and downpression. Historically they have put their limited amounts of money where their much bigger mouth is. For example, most of the gigs they have done have been benefits for various causes. DDMs earliest recorded outbreak was at the time of the Poll Tax. From The Begining the band were committed to the campaign against the tax. In the years since they have fought against fascism and racism while supporting Community Defence, animal rights and anti-roads campaigns. To DDM a shit kicking party is a political thing.
