About Me

Adam Hill is an American singer, songwriter and guitarist. He started writing in highschool on a fourtrack in Kingston, Tennessee crafting country flavored pop rock. In the late 1990's he fronted Knoxville's The Satellite Pumps. This band was rock a billy, honky tonk and bluegrass mixed to a hot under the collar pitch. Th' Pumps met with wide critical aclaim and label interest from Bloodshot Records, other labels and Artist Management Groups. The band split up before a deal was signed or a record waxed due to internal affairs. After that Adam fronted Knoxville's Raggeddettes a mostly Jug Band Blues and Bluegrass band and put out the album LO-FI GOODBYE (a mix of pop, country, rock n roll) on S&L Records to critical acclaim for his songwriting. After that he moved to NYC and played guitar and wrote for Second Manassas (the drum machine gospel tent revival) with Rob Matthews. After 2 years he ended up in Nashville and fronted the country rock flavored The Old Flames with Gerald Dowd and Harlowe Bolinger (The Lower Broads)-With interest from publishing companies like Americana Music (Larry Shell) and Bro n Sis Adam wrote and recorded "Willingness" a 4 track folk blues indie record (that features back ground vox from Chelle Rose and Elizabeth Cook and was mixed by Steve Mabee Engineer for Legendary Shack Shakers) made in his Belmont Blvd apartment. Adam from 2005-2007 had a band called The Sunday Best that mixed his rock n roll bluegrass sound with pop flavored honky tonk and wistful winsome ballads. While part of the generation of songwriters that includes Rhett Miller, Ryan Adams and Scott Miller he has never met with the wide audience of these writers but often draws comparisons to them. Adam is the author of "Leona Barnett" made famous by Chelle Rose. He co-wrote "Get in Line Caroline" with Greg Parker. His song "Magnolia" appears for 8 seconds on MTV's Made. The Boston band Starhick did mostly covers of Adam Hill songs.
