About Me

A Short Story...
Not so long ago, in an area not too far away, there was an area deemed with a dreadful nickname given to describe it's unfortunate lackluster entertainment value - Boremont.
Beaumont, TX - The same area famous for such things as the Spindletop oil gusher, The Big Bopper and one of the world's largest dalmation-painted fire hydrants - BORING to its inhabitants? For shame...
Some of us knew better. Some of us KNEW that there HAD to be something going on. And it didn't require the help of large neon signs, huge building rennovations or grossly overpriced stadium-construction projects. No, some of us knew where to find action... MAKE IT.
Beaumont, TX, an area begging to be "mapped", has spent far too long laying claim to others heros of yesteryear. Those heros previous Southeast Texans have proudly called their own - George Jones, Janis Joplin, ZZ Top, The Bopper - all impressive in their own right but hardly representitive of those who have followed or the sound they have branched onward to.
Below the surface there's always more. Another side to the coin. Long before Crockett Street became the undeserving self-proclaimed pseudo-saviour of Beaumont's music scene (a feat they have yet to fully commit themselves to), there were places like The Zone, The Art Studio and countless rental halls and parks who gave local bands and artists their time. When most snubbed their nose at the up and coming artists, these were the ones who gave them their chance. Along with countless random local music fans who shelled out their own money and time promoting, booking and putting together shows - Many of which who were modivated in large part by their own personal desire to simply make it happen - SOMETHING happen.
These days, and over the course of recent years, with the coming-forth of new venues for groups to display their talents, there's more and more opportunities for local artists to showcase their works. A local music fan should be pretty proud of their scene today. Not only has it managed to compile the start of a pretty impressive young history, but is now brimming over with talent. From the staple local bands who are still playing in the area and making new material, to the members who have branched out and formed new projects, or the new up and coming bands taking the reigns and transforming the scene further in their own vision, there is no shortage of talent in Southeast Texas. Music happens daily here and always will - from the confines of garages to the beer-soaked floors of clubs.
This is your scene, OUR scene. This isn't boring, this is something to be proud of. My objective here is to simply give a concise, yet simple, outline of what IS and what has been before. So many people have came and gone, giving it their all when it was their time. The least we can do as their predesessors is to PROTECT our musical history and remember where we REALLY came from.
We've come a long way and thanks to the ones before us, we do have an active, alive music scene in Beaumont. Let's all thank those who have done their share, they certainly deserve it.
So What's All This, Then?
This page is only my (very) small part in the process. Used to people would post show flyers on telephone poles all over the local area to promote bands and shows. Nowdays there are laws against that and everyone seems to just get online to check for that info - My goal is to try and make that process a LITTLE easier for you.
On top of trying to compile a bit of past music info, I would also encourage anyone interested in the area's CURRENT music to visit the below links and check out the bands and shows that we have to offer in the area. If you're out of the area, get ahold of the venues and come play! As much as we love our locals, touring bands are always a welcome luxury.
My main focus is to highlight the past and present local PUNK/INDIE/ALTERNATIVE groups from the Southeast Texas area. There are plenty of other outlets for the local metal and country music here. I respect their place in our history, but do not have the personal knowledge of those aspects of the scene to give a justified overview. If you notice bands (within our above mentioned criteria) not mentioned in the list to the left (or know links not listed for them), please let me know - More importantly, I'm trying to accurately document the dates in which these past bands were active. So, if you have that information, I'd greatly appreciate it. Bands without dates beside their name are (to the best of my knowledge) still active.
Down the road I hope to expand this page and include at least one band photo for each group and any release information if possible. These are the beginning stages and will take time and your help to complete.
RE: SHOW DATES - I do not list local show dates here, but instead encourage you to visit the venues pages for accurate upcoming local show date information (Their links are listed below). Please feel free to post your upcoming show information in the comments section, though, or in the MESSAGE BOARD
Note: Posting show info here is okay, but flyer images and show info posted in the comments section may be removed AFTER the date of the show, so that it wont slow the page's loading time down.
I ALSO DO NOT BOOK SHOWS. I AM NOT A BOOKER. If you are looking to play in the area, please contact the venues below directly.
Thanks to everyone for your support and interest!
