About Me

MyGen Profile Generator __________________MAKER Auto Racing is a Moreno Valley, Ca. based short track racing team. The team was started 6 years ago, by Ed and Kelly Reid. The team name was made using the first initial of our 5 children, Matthew, Amanda, Kristina, Eddie and Richard. We began in the Sport Truck Division, at Orange Show Speedway, in San Bernardino, Ca. There we would place the same Red and White #87 combination, that was once used by Dad "Butch" Reid at Speedway 605 in 1974.In our third year, we became a 2 truck team. Following the death of big brother, Stewart Reid III, Ed would begin running the number SR3. Kelly took over driving the #87.In 2005, younger brother John Reid would take over the driving of the #87. He would end up the season with a trophy dash and main event win. Finishing 6th in points and taking home the "Rookie of the Year" honors.Ed started the 2005 season with back to back main event wins. Ed would lead the points for 8 of the 10 race season. His worst finish would be 3rd, until the final 2 races. Both of the final 2 races were plagued with engine problems, dropping Ed from 1st to 5th in the point standings.2006 was magical. After 32 years, Dad "Butch" Reid would once again run the memorable red and white #87. On the 3rd race of the season, due to a bad main seal on the SR3, Dad turned over the #87 to Ed. This was done to keep Ed in the hunt for the chamionship. Even though he missed a race, Dad would end the season earning a heat race win, 6th in points and taking home the "Rookie of the Year" honors. Back to back "Rookie of the Years" for MAKER Auto Racing.John was scheduled to move to Arizona. That is what prompted asking Dad to take over the #87. That move fell through. With the help of our friend Jason, we were able to put John into a 3rd truck. He ran the number SR2, to honor our Dad Stewart Reid, Jr. a.k.a. Butch. John ran 4 races with Dad and big brother Ed during the season.Ed was able to earn 3 main event wins and finish the season 2nd in the point standing.2006 also added our MiniStockar to the team. This is a miniature NEXTEL Cup car powered by a Honda GX390 generator motor with a Monte Carlo fiberglass body. Driving duties of our mini racer was shared by Kelly and John. Here we are, in 2007. History, for the Reid family, is once again in the making. Our 9 year old son, Eddie "Bubba" Reid, takes over the driving of our MiniStockar, becomming the 3rd generation to take the Red and White #87 around the 1/4 mile oval at Orange Show Speedway. Come out and see him with our new paint scheme on the new Monte Carlo SS body. With the encouragement, from our primary sponsor, Columbia Steel, Inc. Ed heads to Irwindale Speedway, in Irwindale, CA. for the 2007 season. Moving to the high banked 1/2 mile oval is quite a change. But our family and crew have taken on the challenge with style. Come see our #88 Super Stock, every 2nd and 4th Saturday of each month.Hope to see you, At the racesMAKER Auto RacingIf you are interrested in sponsoring this team, please contact Ed Reid at [email protected]
